Uncle Louis Famous Chicken Rice brings three decades of culinary heritage to Anchorvale Village Hawker Centre, founded by Louis Tan, a 57-year-old former Hilton Hotel chef who pioneered the hotel-to-hawker transition long before it became a Singapore food scene trend. Operating since 1994, Uncle Louis represents authentic Hainanese chicken rice tradition with hotel-trained precision and technique that sets his preparation apart from typical hawker offerings. His bold expansion to Maxwell Food Centre in 2024, positioning directly across from the legendary Tian Tian Chicken Rice, demonstrates confidence in his ability to compete with Singapore most famous chicken rice establishments.
The menu showcases traditional Hainanese chicken rice with silky poached chicken, fragrant rice cooked in chicken stock, and accompanying sauces including ginger-scallion sauce, sweet dark soy, and chili sauce that reflect authentic preparation methods learned during his hotel career. Uncle Louis maintains high standards through careful ingredient selection and precise cooking techniques that ensure consistently tender chicken with perfectly seasoned rice that absorbs maximum flavor from the cooking process. Additional menu items likely include roasted chicken options and complementary dishes that round out the traditional Hainanese chicken rice experience.
Recognition includes consistent ratings averaging 4.6 out of 5 stars across major platforms including Google and TripAdvisor, reflecting customer appreciation for authentic preparation and quality consistency. Despite operating under the radar for 29 years in heartland locations before expanding to Maxwell Food Centre, Uncle Louis maintains loyal following among discerning chicken rice enthusiasts who recognize his hotel-trained expertise. At Anchorvale Village, he continues serving the Sengkang community with the same dedication to authentic Hainanese chicken rice that has sustained his reputation for three decades, representing traditional Singapore hawker culture elevated by professional culinary training.
Ordered 4 pkt chicken rice ( Ji Wei at $4.50 each. Normal chicken rice is $4)
After ordering, the chef shouted only 3 pkt ji Wei, ask customer to order drumstick instead. ❓❓. I replied no ,
I want Ji Wei and the chef replied no
Ji Wei can’t eat is it. What kind of
Attitude ‼️‼️( hv Ji Wei chicken but just refuse to cut)
When home I opened up my Ji Wei chicken rice. I was given Ji Wei with many bones, lesser or no meat at all and the rice is salty …
Attitude stall… lousy service. NOT RECOMMENDED

First time tried the chicken rice. Tasty. Comes with soup. But the chicken meat a bit little. Not worth the price.

Like other review mentioned, the food is nice but the uncle who taking orders has a very bad attitude. He may purposely mistake your order and give you a lecture about the Chinese language if you’re not a Chinese speaker. I ordered steamed chicken thigh then the lady gave me roasted chicken at first, I have to clarify to her. She then told the uncle that I ordered steamed chicken not roasted chicken but he didn’t say anything. Eventually I got my steamed chicken but it’s not the thigh part as I ordered and paid for. Very bad service.

There is a lady is so rude. No smiling face. Never answer when people talk. Need to change another better service staff not her. Her face seems to be everyone owe her money. Poor service

Bought roast chicken rice with egg and extra meat.
They forgot to give me egg and the meat is completely devoid of skin. When people eat roast chicken, the skin is important. No quality control whatsoever. I had to make a 2nd trip down to the store to get my missing egg. This is the 2nd time it happened to me so I am annoyed.

Terrible stall. For takeaway orders, make sure you check, recheck and triple-check your order! We ordered two packs of large white CHICKEN BREAST and received chicken parts that looked like leftover chicken pieces full of bones and blood. This is inedible, and we almost puked at the sight of it when we got home. The parts were most likely unpopular with customers, and we drew the short end of the stick. When I ordered, I clearly saw a half-white chicken hanging on the display, but we received this instead. The one taking the order was the short-haired Vietnamese lady, and she tended to mess up the order. Be careful if you're ordering, and it's her! Check before leaving!!
We had to go out again to buy other food; what a waste of money.

The steam chicken thigh rice meat is not bad. Portion can be quite small, had to pay $7.50 to upsize.

Decided to give this stall a try after seeing long queue. Both the roasted chicken and white chicken were very average. The chicken came with very little skin on it. The boiled vegetable came with soya sauce and garlic oil and was nice. Chilli sauce was OK but the ginger sauce was finished and was not refilled. When I asked for it, I was given a packet meant for takeaway order. Price is acceptable but service is unfriendly. So won't be back.

This stall is located in a hawker centre on the 2nd floor of Anchorvale Village shopping centre, where the first floor is where the restaurants are located.
It has >30 stalls and can fit 600 pax. Good ventilation given high ceilings, open layout and large High Volume Low Speed (HVLS) ceiling fans.
Price is reasonable (only 50 cents for add rice) and food quality is ok:
$4,6
Chicken Thigh Rice $4.50
Half/Whole chicken $15/ 30
Egg 80 cents
Add rice 50 cents
Customer service is questionable though.
Parking - There is a MSCP right inside Anchorvale Village.
Kids playground is located on Level 4 and can be reached via stairs from level 3.

Was it a good plate of chicken rice? No. Was it decent? I guess it’s quite average as nothing really stands out to me. The roasted chicken wasn’t too bad but I think the rice lacks the usual fragrance that is typical to chicken rice. Chicken portions were small as well. Chili was ok, it was on a bit on the spicier side.
The service staff tends to get your order mixed up and you will need to end up repeating a few times. Could be the noise at the hawker centre though.

This stall has a poor attitude and provides lousy service. NOT RECOMMENDED.

Surprise to find juicy chicken breast, tried both roast and steam chicken. Both are equally good. Chili is spicy and goes well with the chicken.

Today, I tried bringing a container to see if I could take away the soup from the chicken rice stall. The aunty was kind enough to give me an extra plastic bag to put the soup container in, as it was very hot. The service was awesome. The chicken rice and soup tasted good and the vegetables were kailan, not choi xin, which was great. This is definitely my favorite chicken rice in Sengkang.

Surprisingly big portion for a $4 order. I got a wing(without requesting), plus a generous amount(at least 7 chunky slices) of meat. Rice could be more flavourful. I got the soup of the day which is bitter gould and chicken bone, rather tasty. Chili and minced ginger is good
