Second time eating from this stall. The portion is quite generous, and the fish is fresh.

This fish soup stall tends to attract long queues during meal hours, a clear indicator of its popularity. The Teochew steamed fish is well-prepared, tender, and features a nice, thick cut. The soup, unlike many others, is less salty, which may or may not suit individual tastes. Service is relatively quick, and the $12 steamed fish portion along with a $6 soup are quite sufficient for three people when paired with rice. A solid option if you're looking for a lighter, healthier, and satisfying meal that isn't overly salty. Freshly cut chilli padi is available for pairing. I only wish I had access to unlimited coriander!

Fresh and generous CHUNKS of red grouper! 😍 Chunks, not slices. I ordered item B on the menu, which is $15, and this is a princely portion compared to what you get elsewhere for the same price. In Siglap, you won't even get half of this for $10. Somewhere in Newton, even the one with the Mich€|!ん logo is sad compared to this, offering very thinly sliced batang (I ordered a $10 portion, but it's batang 😓; the fish volume is probably not even 3 chunks of what this stall gives in red grouper -__-). Too bad it's in the boonies, but I would patronize this stall whenever I get a chance ❤️.

Ordered their sliced red grouper fish soup with thin rice vermicelli ($8.50). CDC was an option, but using the Fairprice app provided a 10% discount. The soup had no fishy taste and was light and seafoody. The fish slices were thick-cut, sturdy, and a good amount was provided in the bowl. If you want something light, consider giving this a try. Overall, a decent bowl of fish soup (3.8/5). Food handlers were wearing masks while preparing the food. The place can be busy during weekend lunch periods. Tables were clean, and the place was well-ventilated with big metal ceiling fans.

Ordered item #4, the batang fish slice, for $6, plus 50c for rice. The soup was light yet sweet. The fish was soft, and quite okay in my opinion. It tasted better with the chili sauce! There was a generous amount of fish slices (not the thinly sliced kind). However, the cashier's attitude could be better.

Here's the lightly edited review: This stall is located in a hawker centre on the 2nd floor of Anchorvale Village shopping centre, with restaurants located on the first floor. The hawker centre has over 30 stalls and can fit 600 pax. It offers good ventilation, thanks to its high ceilings, open layout, and large High Volume Low Speed (HVLS) ceiling fans. Pricey, as expected for fish soup. Quality: The pomfret soup uses golden pomfret, not white pomfret (dou chang). The broth is quite thin. Pomfret/ Batang sliced fish soup $6 Grouper sliced fish soup $7 Red Grouper sliced fish soup $7 Parking: There is an MSCP right inside Anchorvale Village. A kids' playground is located on Level 4 and can be reached via stairs from Level 3.

Today is history! I came to this fish shop to eat and ordered a red grouper. After collecting my food and bringing it back to my table, I noticed the fish was a black grouper. I brought it back to inform the shop, and what they did was beyond Singapore: they actually added the red grouper to my existing bowl and returned it to me with a full bowl of fish! This is amazing! Kudos to the staff there! I will return for sure! Excellent service recovery!

Paid $12 for a plate of grouper soup — got 10% off using the FairPrice app, which definitely made it more worth it. The soup was tasty, done in Teochew style with giam chai (salted vegetables) and tomato. The fish was super fresh, which really made the dish shine. Surprisingly, the queue was short and well-organized even during Sunday lunchtime. It can get quite hot eating there under the sun, but thankfully the seating area is covered and cooled by some serious big-ass fans — makes it a lot more bearable. If you're in the area, I’d definitely recommend giving it a try.

This was my first time patronising this stall. I visited in the morning, when there was no queue, after seeing long queues during peak hours. I had high expectations after reading so much about Soon Lee. I ordered the Pomfret Fish Soup with Yee Mian for $6.50. I thought it would be White Pomfret, but silly me, how could it be at this price? It turned out to be Golden Pomfret, which was fresh and thick-cut, and that was great. However, the soup base was disappointing. It was a very bland and slightly salted solution (I wanted to call it a 'broth,' but there wasn't even any hint of fish flavour) that had more of the Yee Mian flavour than anything else. I still finished the dish, as I love Yee Mian and the fish slices were enjoyable. Perhaps I was an early customer and the flavours had not yet soaked into the soup, but I don't think I'll be having this again anytime soon. My neighbourhood fish soup stall's soup tastes much more flavourful, and at $5 with decent cuts of fish, it consistently satisfies my fish soup cravings. I'd give 5 stars for the thick-cut fish at Soon Lee, but only 1 star for the soup base. Therefore, I'm giving 3 stars on average.

Great that Soon Lee has an outlet here. Very good fish soup, consistent in taste and with consistently thick slices of fish. This makes the price really worth it for the quality given. Ingredients are fresh. Queues are normally expected during lunch and dinner hours. I have eaten here a number of times and continue to do so. I also tried the Teochew-style red grouper dish. Very good portion for the price, and the taste is quite good. Good mix of tomato slices, tofu and salted vegetables.
