Soon Lee Fish Soup brings heritage Teochew fish soup tradition to Anchorvale Village Hawker Centre, operating since 1990 with over three decades of expertise in serving Singapore authentic fish soup culture. This establishment stands out through their farm-to-table approach, operating their own fish farm in Changi and processing plant that ensures ultimate freshness from water to bowl. Their self-sufficient supply chain guarantees customers receive the finest quality fish, sliced thick and broad to showcase natural sweetness with subtle ocean brininess that defines exceptional Singaporean fish soup experiences.
The menu features signature offerings including their renowned black and white fish soup that combines both fried and fresh fish varieties, perfectly balancing crispy textures with tender white fish meat in flavorful, hearty broth. Specialty options include Sliced Grouper Fish Soup ranging from 8 to 12 dollars depending on size and fish type, plus the more economical Batang Sliced Fish Soup from 6 to 8 dollars that maintains the same quality standards. Each serving includes choice of rice, rice vermicelli, or yi mein as accompaniment, with the soup featuring well-balanced flavors enhanced by subtle ginger notes, vegetables, and ginger shreds that complement rather than overpower the fish natural taste.
Soon Lee Fish Soup has earned recognition as a well-kept secret among taxi drivers and factory workers throughout Singapore, with expansion to multiple locations including Ayer Rajah Food Centre and Tiong Bahru Market demonstrating their growing reputation. Their commitment to freshness through integrated fish farming operations represents the evolution of traditional hawker businesses adapting modern supply chain management while maintaining authentic preparation methods. At Anchorvale Village, they contribute to the hawker centre diverse culinary landscape by offering comfort food that appeals to both heritage-conscious diners and health-focused customers seeking fresh, nutritious meals in the heart of Sengkang residential community.
First time patronising this stall in the morning when there was no queue, after seeing long queues during peak hours. Had high expectations after reading so much about Soon Lee.
Ordered the Pomfret Fish Soup with Yee Mian at $6.50. Thought it was to be White Pomfret but silly me how can it be at this price. So it was the Golden Pomfret fish which was fresh and thick cut, which was great. However, the soup base was disappointing, being a very blend and slightly salted solution (I wanted to say "broth", but there wasn't even any hint of fish flavour) which had more of the Yee Mian flavour than anything else. I still finished the dish as I love Yee Mian and the fish slices were enjoyable.
Perhaps I was an early customer and the flavours have not soaked into the soup yet, but I don't think I'll be having this again anytime soon. My neighbourhood fish soup stall's soup tastes much more flavourful and at $5 there with decent cuts of fish, it'll do the job of satisfying my fish soup cravings.
5 stars for the thick cut fish at Soon Lee but 1 star for the soup base. So giving 3 stars on average.

Service Lapse at Fish Soup Stall
I would like to highlight a frustrating experience at your fish soup stall today. I arrived at 10:00 AM and asked the staff what time the stall would open. Instead of providing a clear answer, the woman simply responded, “When the signage light is on, it is open.”
I waited for 30 minutes in front of the stall, only to return and ask again, at which point she finally informed me that the stall actually opens at 11:00 AM. This lack of transparency and poor attitude wasted my time unnecessarily. Given that I was standing right in front of the stall, she should have just informed me instead of giving vague responses.
I hope you will address this issue to improve customer service and ensure clearer communication in the future.

This stall proves that given exactly the same ingredients cooked by different person, food will not turn out the same taste. Soup was bland unlike those I have tried from other stalls, which bee hoon was infused with tasty soup. I added quite abit of soya sauce, ate only 1/3 of it. Disappointed.

The fish soup might be decent, but the service was unacceptable. A middle-aged auntie, likely in her 50s, repeatedly called me “Ah Jie” despite me being much younger. It was awkward, unprofessional, and frankly disrespectful. Customers shouldn’t have to tolerate unwanted and inappropriate familiarity, especially when the staff is significantly older. Management needs to step in and ensure their staff address customers properly and professionally

We used to frequent this stall for their grouper fish. A few days ago, we ordered 2 packets of grouper fish soup. Once we reached home & opened up, there was a very strong fishy smell which means the fish are not fresh.

The red grouper is really fresh and big chunk, however the broth tasted very bland..I don’t mind to patronise again for the red grouper fresh fish meat..

Fresh and generous CHUNKS of red grouper. 😍Chunks. Not slices. Ordered item B on the menu, which is $15 but this is a princely portion compared to what you get elsewhere for the same price. Siglap you won't even get half of this for $10. Somewhere in Newton, even the one with the Mich€|!ん logo is sad compared to this with very thinly slices of batang (i order $10 portion but its batang 😓 fish volume is probably not even 3 chunks of what this stall gives in red grouper -__-). Too bad it is in the boonies but I would patronize this stall whenever there is a chance ❤️

Ordered number 4) batang fish slice at $6 + 50c for rice.
Soup was light yet sweet. Fish was soft, quite ok imo. Taste better with the chili sauce! Generous amount of fish slices (not thinly sliced kind)
However the cashier (Vietnam girl) attitude could be better.

Second time eating from this stall. Portion is quite generous and fish is fresh.

This fish soup stall tends to attract long queues during meal hours, indicating its popularity. The Teochew steamed fish is well-prepared, tender, and has a nice thick cut. The soup, unlike many others, is less salty, which may or may not suit individual tastes depending on preference. Service is relatively quick, and for $12, the steamed fish portion and a $6 soup are quite sufficient for three people when paired with rice. A solid option if you're looking for a lighter, healthier meal that’s satisfying without being too salty. Fresh cut chilli padi available for pairing while I wish I had access to unlimited coriander!

Ordered their sliced red grouper fish soup with thin rice vermicelli ($8.50). Could use CDC but using Fairprice apps enjoyed 10% discount. No fishy taste and the soup was light and seafoody. Fish meats were thick cut slices and they were sturdy and good amount in a bowl. If you want something light, you can consider this, giving it a try. Overall a decent bowl of fish soup (3.8/5). Food handlers wearing mask while preparing the food. Can be busy during the weekend lunch period. Tables were clean and the place was well ventilated with big metal ceiling fans.

Paid $12 for a plate of grouper soup — got 10% off using the FairPrice app, which definitely made it more worth it.
The soup was tasty, done in Teochew style with giam chai (salted vegetables) and tomato. The fish was super fresh, which really made the dish shine.
Surprisingly, the queue was short and well-organized even during Sunday lunch time. It can get quite hot eating there under the sun, but thankfully the seating area is covered and cooled by some serious big-ass fans — makes it a lot more bearable.
If you're in the area, I’d definitely recommend giving it a try.

This stall is located in a hawker centre on the 2nd floor of Anchorvale Village shopping centre, where the first floor is where the restaurants are located.
It has >30 stalls and can fit 600 pax. Good ventilation given high ceilings, open layout and large High Volume Low Speed (HVLS) ceiling fans.
Pricey as expected for fish soup.
Quality - Pomfret soup uses golden pomfret, not white promfret (dou chang). Broth is quite thin.
Pomfret/ Batang sliced fish soup $6
Grouper sliced fish soup $7
Red Grouper sliced fish soup $7
Parking - There is a MSCP right inside Anchorvale Village.
Kids playground is located on Level 4 and can be reached via stairs from level 3.

Great that Soon Lee opens an outlet here. Very good fish soup, consistent in taste. Consistent in the thick slices of fish.
It makes the price really worth it for the quality given. Ingredients are fresh.
Queues are expected normally during lunch and dinner times.
Ate a number of times and still doing so.
Tried the teochew style red grouper dish too. Very good portion for the price and taste is quite good. Good mix of tomato slices, tofu and salted vegetables.

Today Is history!!! I came to this fish shop to eat, I order a red grouper. After collecting my food and brining it back to my table I notice the fish was black grouper. I brough back to inform the shop and what they did was beyond Singapore , they actually added the red grouper in my existing bowl and return it back to me with full bowl of fish !!! This is amazing !!! Kudos to the staff there!! I will return for sure!!! Excellent service recovery!!!!

The red grouper was really fresh and came in big chunks; however, the broth tasted very bland. I don't mind patronising again for the fresh red grouper.
