Curry Chicken Chop Rice @ Nanyang Curry
This curry is uniquely Chinese; it doesn't have the strong, complex spice of Indian varieties, nor the sweetness of Japanese. Instead, it's pretty close to the tze-char style ones—creamy, spicy, and savoury.
The amount of curry was generous, and the chicken chop (cutlet?) was fried very well, with a very crisp layer on top of tender meat. It's already pretty good on its own, but with the curry? It's great!
That being said, the taste is quite monotonous and could get quite gelat. Thankfully, a half-size chicken chop is also available. The one pictured here is full-sized.
The price is also pretty decent for what you get, and anyone craving Chinese-style curry would be happy with this. Personal bias too, because it tastes a lot like the one my mom makes.

I instantly fell in love with the thick, pasty curry, and I believe the owner uses milk instead.
I would say their curry has a taste unique to them—a delectable Hainanese-style curry chicken.
Unfortunately, they were not able to roast the bread, and it was my first time trying their food.

Honest review:
-Curry: Very fragrant and delightful to drink, slightly less thick than typical Nyonya curry. I finished the entire bowl.
-Chicken: Slides off the bone; not the most tender but still very good. I wish they gave more than 2 pieces.
-Potato: Pairs very well with the curry and chicken.
-Rice: Must finish every bit of it with the curry!
-Price: $6.70 (before Kopitiam discount) for whole leg with rice is a little pricey, but I'll still eat it regularly.
9/10. Easily one of the best curries I've eaten in a while 👍

Absolutely delicious chicken cutlet curry here. Curry has that "homely" taste and also comes with a nice bit of spice. The chicken cutlet is beautifully fried and also has a good crisp to it. 10/10 will recommend.

The curry here is really good. It is quite tasty. The curry consistency is slightly on the thinner side. It is really mild, and I would prefer it to be spicier.
Chicken was really tender. The chicken was easy to bite off the bone. Potatoes were good too; there were two cut pieces.
They do not cook large quantities daily, as a number of items were out of stock when I purchased my meal. Looking forward to trying the mutton curry next time.

The Anchorvale Hawker Centre is up and running!
I'm excited to learn my favorite Nanyang curry has been found. Previously, they were at Yishun Park Hawker Centre but suddenly closed down. When I saw this at the new hawker centre, I knew I had to satisfy my curry chicken craving.
The curry sauce is so good. Thick and fragrant. It goes so well with rice or bread. The chicken wings are chunky and the potatoes, OMG. Best.
The whole dining experience was great.
I love this so much.

Ordered chicken thigh curry. Curry flavor was robust. The bread was soaking up the goodness of the curry gravy well. Just a bit spicy, not overpowering. Potatoes were super soft. Overall, a good meal. Price: $6.30 (after FairPrice app discount)

Chicken chop curry rice comes with a generous piece of chicken chop and potato curry. The thick chicken chop has good flavour. The piece of potato is perfectly cooked. The curry sauce is **Nonya-style**, thick with strong coconut flavour. It would go nicely with prata.
Service is OK but a little slow.

I've tried their Curry Chicken with plain rice several times. They have their own unique curry recipe, which I haven't seen elsewhere in Singapore. The cooking is consistently good, and the curry is freshly cooked daily. The curry includes chicken wings and potatoes. The meat is tender, and the potatoes are just right – they melt in your mouth without disintegrating into the curry.
I finished every single drop of the curry.

I spotted Nanyang Curry at Anchorvale Village today, and the “Homemade Curry” sign immediately caught my eye. There’s something about that phrase: simple, bold, and full of promise. I’d heard whispers that this was the same beloved Nanyang Curry from Yishun Park Hawker Centre, now revived by the founder’s daughter. That alone was enough to pique my curiosity.
Walking into the shop, I was greeted by a cozy, no-frills space—a humble spot where the focus is clearly on the food. The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere had that comforting, typical hawker stall vibe. It felt like the kind of place where people come for the food, not the frills.
On a mission, I stepped up and ordered the Curry Chicken Chop Rice (Full Piece) for just $6.50—no holding back for my first try. When the plate arrived, it looked great, but the chicken chop wasn’t as crispy as I’d hoped. It also wasn’t as juicy, and the whole dish was a little on the colder side.
That said, the curry was the real star. The richness of the sauce, with just the right amount of spice, immediately hit the spot. It wasn’t overly creamy or greasy—just deep, comforting flavors that made me want to drown my rice in it. The chicken might not have been perfect, but that curry kept me coming back for more bites.
For $6.50, it wasn’t a bad meal, but I’d probably give it another try to see if the consistency improves. Next time, I’m eyeing the Curry Chicken Whole Leg hoping for a juicier, more flavorful experience, and a chance to truly savor that curry!
