Hong Lim Curry Puff at JEM represents the innovative expansion of a family recipe that has been perfected through generations of culinary expertise. Founded in 2023 as a halal variant of the legendary Tanglin Crispy Curry Puff Since 1952, Hong Lim Curry Puff brings authentic Singaporean flavors to modern shopping environments while maintaining strict halal certification. The brand operates from a central kitchen ensuring consistent quality across all 15 locations throughout Singapore, with the JEM outlet providing convenient access to this beloved snack for shoppers in Jurong East. Each curry puff is freshly prepared daily, featuring thin, impossibly crispy and flaky pastry that shatters satisfyingly with each bite, wrapping a savory interior of soft curry potato, tender chicken pieces, and creamy boiled egg.
The menu at Hong Lim Curry Puff showcases four distinct filling options that cater to different taste preferences and dietary requirements. The signature Chicken and Potato Curry Puff delivers classic curry flavors with perfect balance between spice and comfort, while the Sardine Puff offers a surprising umami-forward taste experience. The Otah Puff presents a seafood-forward option made with traditional Southeast Asian ingredients, and the Yam Puff provides a unique sweet and savory combination that challenges conventional curry puff expectations. Every item is priced at an exceptional $2, making premium quality curry puffs accessible to all customers regardless of budget constraints. The brand's commitment to maintaining affordable pricing while using quality ingredients demonstrates their respect for Singapore's hawker culture and democratic eating philosophy.

30/7/25 at 3:55pm - my first time trying this brand as I’m generally not fond of deep fried food. Chanced upon this week old outlet after an early dinner at this clean & well organised hawker centre (no flying birds!).
My orders were:
🥟Chicken potato & egg - spicy, quite aromatic and packed with filling. So one piece should be just nice as a snack. My husband had two pieces ‘cos we were having the puffs for dinner🤣
🥟Sardine potato & egg - I like this as it’s lightly spicy and made with Ayam Brand sardines. Some sardines can be fishy and overwhelming.
🥟Yam paste - very smooth & sweetness was just nice. It’s like a curry puff version of the orh nee mooncake.
Three hours after buying, the puffs packed in a box were still crispy and flaky. But oil had seeped onto the brown paper lining the box.
A brown paper bag with two yam puffs for my elderly neighbour was soaked through with oil. That didn’t look good as a gift.
But the puffs were yummy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The next day, we toasted 2 puffs lightly and the texture was just as good.
Overall, GREAT puffs 💯
I will buy again if I come here. The staff said this outlet is a franchisee. The puffs were made in a central kitchen but fried here in batches throughout the day.
The price of $2 each was lower than $2.20 charged by the outlet at Pasir Ris bus interchange.
The quality here was better too as there were Google reviews of inadequate filling and big air pockets in the puffs sold elsewhere.

The curry potato here is fantastic! Loved how thin the pastry was, and the potato filling inside was super soft, mildly spicy, and really well-filled. Picked up two other flavors today, hoping they're just as good."

Found this new stall at Anchorvale Village Hawker Centre.
Tried their Chicken Potato and Spicy Otah curry puff.
Very nice and crispy while hot! The fillings are all packed full with no cavity at all. The curry fragrance of the Chicken Potato are especially tantalizing.
And priced at $2.00 each only. Cheaper than the other more well known curry puffs in Singapore. Plus you get 10% off if you use the Fairprice App to pay.
Didn't get to try out Yam or Sardine as they are out of stock. We be back for them later this week.

Curry puffs are all freshly fried – super crispy, fluffy, packed with ingredients and so flavourful! This is the original recipe from Tanglin Crispy Puff. I came by around 8 pm and they were still frying them fresh on the spot, piping hot and delicious. I’m in love with the sardine puff!! Please come early cos they’ve limited qty daily. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Tried this newly opened store and was really impressed! Their curry puffs have a perfectly crispy, thin-layered skin and a flavorful filling. There was a long queue, but it was definitely worth the wait.

Not overly spicy, either.
