Har cheong gai specialist serving double-fried prawn paste chicken wings with 2-day marination, endorsed by top chefs and rated 5/5 stars by customers.
AH TAN WINGS specializes exclusively in har cheong gai (prawn paste fried chicken) at Anchorvale Village Hawker Centre, representing Singapore authentic answer to fried chicken through traditional preparation methods that have captivated local taste buds for generations. Operating daily from 10:30 AM to 9 PM except Wednesdays, this focused establishment demonstrates culinary mastery by perfecting a single dish rather than diversifying menu options. Their dedication to har cheong gai excellence stems from pure passion for this beloved Singaporean heritage food, creating fermented shrimp paste chicken wings that deliver nostalgic flavors reminiscent of traditional coffee shop experiences.
The signature preparation involves marinating chicken wings in specially-developed paste for two full days before coating in batter and executing a double-frying technique that creates an distinctive crispy, netting-like crust with trapped air pockets for maximum crunch and volume. This extended marination process ensures flavors penetrate deep into the meat rather than remaining surface-level, while the double-frying method produces extra crispy exteriors that maintain structural integrity even when cooled. Menu options include Set A Wing Wing featuring 2 wings and 2 drumlets with aromatic rice and egg for 6 dollars, plus Set B Atas Cutlet with prawn paste cutlet, rice, and egg for 7.70 dollars.
Recognition from culinary professionals includes endorsement from Daniel Sia, executive chef of The Coconut Club Singapore, who praises their ability to evoke nostalgic feelings through traditional Singaporean heritage food preparation. Customer ratings consistently achieve 5 out of 5 stars across 88 reviews on food delivery platforms, reflecting their commitment to quality and consistency. AH TAN WINGS represents the specialization trend in modern hawker culture, proving that mastering one signature dish can create sustainable business success while preserving authentic Singapore street food traditions for future generations in contemporary hawker centres like Anchorvale Village.
Chicken chop didn't really have the prawn paste taste.
Rather pricey for the set B with a piece of thigh meat.
Fortunately the chicken was served hot and crispy and the chilli sauce was rather good. I can eat the flavoured rice with the chilli without the chicken ..

$2.20 a wing and drumlet. U will expect a big wing. What i got when i open my box is a miserable looking wing. Scrawny. Over fried. Such a disappointment. I asked how long will it take for tao pao. The cashier looked impatient and shouted back at me "depends on what u want?". And then said two mins after i clarifed i wanted only to takeaway chicken wing. Such a disappointing experience. I have tasted better prawn paste wings. This is a stall i wont go back again.

I saw the shop from afar and wanted to try immediately. But I was taken aback the moment I see an endorsement from a food blogger. I tend to disagree with most food bloggers but I just had to trust my own instinct based on first impressions.
The menu is interesting. Typing a chicken wing is a 3 piece thing but here, a wing is the mid-joint+tail only, and a drumlet is labeled differently. So if you’re paying $3.50 for Set C, you get rice and one whole wing and that’s it. They call it 1 wing, 1 drumlet and rice. That’s like buy a tap with the handle and the faucet spelt in your face.
For $6.60 you get 2 wings, 1 egg and rice
For $7, u get a chicken fillet, egg and rice.
I went for the $7 set (B) which I think is most value for money.
The chicken is ok, the har jeong not too powering and it’s crispy. So no complaints there. The rice is almost tasteless. I had to supplement it with the chilly sauce which I think is the life saver for the day. So if you’re a non spicy eater, I won’t recommend this shop. Maybe just buy the chicken wings but check out if they’re selling you the entire wing or just the mid joint or drumlet.

If the original outlet at Yishun is 10/10, then sadly this would be a 1/10 for me. There is no prawn paste taste, the chicken is not cooked properly, and the rice is soggy. The only thing that is decent is the chilli. Tastes worse than normal fried chicken wings. Very disappointing.

Have not had this for some time and surprised how far standards have dropped. I don’t think it is the fault of the person cooking. It’s as though the batter has lost that unique flavour. As such, the ratings have plummeted from the initial high. It used to be one of the (few) better rated stalls in the hawker centre. Please do better because i really liked the food when it was good and i think 3/5 is a fair rating, looking forward to modifying my review if and when it gets better.

I’m glad I don’t need to travel to Yishun anymore to for this. The stall is famous for their prawn paste chicken. I ordered the fried chicken fillet that came with fragrance rice topped with a fried egg. The chicken was slightly on the dry side but the good thing is the prawn paste was not overpowering. The rice could use some improvement though. Overall, I think it’s a decent dish. There are options definitely, whether you want to order some small bites for sharing or a main dish for yourself.

First time trying the prawn paste fried chicken rice as it was always long queue but we came late, and most stalls are closed, so have to join in the queue. The wings are nice and crispy and the usual chicken rice garlic chilli is a good match. The rice, however, is a bit dry.
Give it a try if you have not tried before.

Generally a good meal.
Had the HCK cutlet rice, (ATAS).
A big piece of chicken thigh, well marinated and fried. Found the prawn paste OK but not as fragrant to the bite. Rice blend. Sauce compliments well. Overall not bad.

This stall is located in a hawker centre on the 2nd floor of Anchorvale Village shopping centre, where the first floor is where the restaurants are located.
It has >30 stalls and can fit 600 pax. Good ventilation given high ceilings, open layout and large High Volume Low Speed (HVLS) ceiling fans.
Pricey for the portion. The prawn taste is not overly strong. Rice is fragrant.
1 Prawn Paste Chicken Wing (wing+drumlette) $2.20
2 Prawn Paste wing rice w egg $6
Prawn Paste Chicken cutlet rice w egg $7.70
Parking - There is a MSCP right inside Anchorvale Village.
Kids playground is located on Level 4 and can be reached via stairs from level 3.

Ah Tan Chicken Wings beats Eng Kee hands down for me in this hawker centre. They are particularly known for their Har Cheong Gai (prawn paste chicken). If you are still on the lookout for an exceptional Har Cheong Gai within Singapore, this is a must-try. They have a couple of other outlets across the island as well.
Very crispy, super fresh, and goes superbly well with the special chili sauce on the side. Every wing and drumlet is also kept very fresh and you can see at the background that they are prepared and fried on the spot as well, although marination is completed for at least 2 days in advance to ensure that the flavours are fully absorbed and consistent. Overall not too greasy as well.
I ordered the Prawn Paste Wings ($2.20) a la carte, which gets you one wing and one drumlet, but most will order the chicken with rice and egg in the Wing Wing Set ($6). Super delicious and one of the best stalls here for sure. Super affordable, stall owners are very friendly and always greets everyone with a nice smile. Queue may be long (which proves its quality!), but it moves really efficiently because of the straightforward order menu and system in place.

Prawn paste fried chicken looks popular here so I decided to give it a try. There is no more cutlet as I was a bit late, 8pm. Tried the fried chicken wing rice.. the wings are pretty well fried and I got to eat the freshly fried crispy fried chicken, not the best but good enough hawker food. Rice got some fragrant but not soft enough. Only concern is that I found a nose hair like thingi, seems like fried harden.. I hope I'm wrong 😅.. benefit of doubt, my rating discounted this thingi.

Had the chicken thigh set. its not overly oily. Some deep fried meat, the oil will drip once you bite into it. the thigh is juicy and i felt the prawn paste wasn't too overwhelming. Sprinkling the lemon enhanced the taste of the piece of meat. The flavored rice that came with the set tasted nice as well. despite having only lady manning the stall during lunch time, the queue was reasonably fast.
Would recommend this stall.

Wah this hawker centre is becoming my preferred makan place of the few which sprouted out in the vicinity recently. Beside one of my fav fish soup stall is Ah Tan Wings 🤩🤩🤩 which I got to know from groupbuy last time.

How to know if my parents like it? Buy extra 2 wings to share but they 静悄悄 polish all liao, despite cutting down on fried food 😆😆😆. Nothing left for me 😅😅😅.

Third time eating Ah Tan Chicken wings. Is quite good. Goes very well with coke or whisky for adults😉👍.
Prawn paste taste is just right. Not too strong. Will eat again.

Tried them since they opened at Yishun Park HC.
Glad they opened an outlet here nearer to me. Easier access to superb prawn paste chicken wings.
Ordered set B and added 1 more wing to go along. Prawn paste batter superb fragrant and crispiness is krak krak level sound. Shiok to relive this once again.
Got queue, waited about 15mins only though. Service is quite fast.
Fantastic quality cannot go wrong with this in this HC. Do try.
